The first annual Fiesta Dog Parade & Costume Contest, happening May 16, 2026, is a joyful, family-friendly celebration of Santa Barbara’s culture, community spirit, and love of dogs. Inspired by Old Spanish Days Fiesta, this vibrant new tradition brings together locals, businesses, nonprofits, and pet lovers for a one-of-a-kind event filled with color, creativity, and connection.
With festive costumes, Spanish-inspired flair, and plenty of wagging tails, participants will parade down State Street and through Paseo Nuevo – capturing the warmth, pride, and playful spirit that make Fiesta so special.
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and attendees, participation in the Dog Parade is limited and available by advance registration only. Register today!

Paseo Nuevo is an open-air shopping destination in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, offering a mix of retail, dining, and community gathering spaces. They are a key event partner and location host, providing portions of the parade route and the location for post-parade festivities.
Thanks also to Santa Barbara Humane, our nonprofit partner. They provide essential services that support pets and the people who love them, including low-cost veterinary care, vaccines, and spay/neuter services, as well as humane dog training classes, pet adoption, and animal rehoming programs. Santa Barbara Humane will be on-site during the event with a hydration station for dogs, a backdrop for photo opportunities, and a general information booth.
