Board of Directors 2026
Old Spanish Days Fiesta is run by an Executive Committee and a Board of Directors who represent a broad cross-section of the community. The board is responsible for planning and producing over a dozen major events during the week, and organizing nearly 500 different volunteers, participants, and performers.
El Comité Ejecutivo (Executive Committee)
Colin Hayward
Colin Hayward has been a member of the Old Spanish Days board since 2018. He has been involved with El Desfile Histórico (Parade) for over 10 years as a parade marshal, and a member of the Parade Committee since 2018. He served as Chair for the Safety & Security and Parade Marshals committees in 2021. He has been a member of the committees for Fiesta Pequeña and Horseman’s Rendezvous.
Tony Miller
Tony Miller has been with Old Spanish Days since 2017. He is the the 2026 El Primer Vice Presidente. Tony first experienced the Fiesta parade on State Street in Santa Barbara in 1990. He worked at a business on lower State Street which would shut down for a few hours during the parade every year to enjoy the sights and sounds as it went by. Things finally came full circle in 2017 when he was invited to join the OSD board which eventually lead to him becoming the division chief of the parade in 2022. Over the years Tony has been involved with the rodeo, the parade, and development. Tony has a family of 5, with two dogs, and two cats. Tony is a realtor and enjoys surfing and horseback riding. Fiesta with the OSD board is a year-round job and we look forward to working towards the next 100 plus years. Viva La Fiesta!
Casie Killgore
Casie Killgore has been on the Old Spanish Days Board since 2017. Casie joined Old Spanish Days because she has loved Fiesta since she was young growing up watching parades and enjoying the mercados. Casie has chaired La President Reception, Los Artistas, and La Primavera events. In 2021, she served on the Executive Committee as La Tesorera. In 2025, she was La Secretaria as well as Division Chief of Pageantry. Casie loves to keep tradition alive and honor the history of what Old Spanish Days means to the community. When she is not enjoying Fiesta, she is a local school principal and spends her time with her daughter and her horse.
David Bolton
David Bolton is the current Treasurer and Division Chief of External Relations for Old Spanish Days, Inc. He was El Presidente in 2023 and also serves as the organization’s official Fiesta Historian. He has served on the OSD board since 2015. David’s responsibilities on the board have included El Primer and El Segundo Vice Presidentes, El Secretario, Division Chief of External Relations and Education, Press Chair, and television liaison for Fiesta Pequeña and El Desfile Histórico. He has chaired La Primavera, Parade Marshals, Announcers, Governance, Bylaws and Nominations Committees. He has also been actively involved in several other OSD committees including Fiesta Pequeña, History and Archiving, the Presidentes’ Party, the Parade Committee (El Desfile Histórico), and various Fiesta administrative committees. He is in his 14th year as executive director of the California Missions Foundation. In 2019, David was knighted by Spain’s King Felipe VI as a Commander in the Royal Order of Isabela la Católica.

David Bolton

Sarah Brewer
Sarah Brewer joined the Old Spanish Days Board in 2018 as an Associate Director. A Santa Barbara native, she first became involved with Old Spanish Days through her three daughters, who participated in the Los Niños de las Flores program beginning in 2012. Sarah has served as Chair of the Los Niños youth program since 2021 and has contributed her time and leadership to numerous committees over her many years of volunteering. This year, she serves as Division Chief of Pageantry. Fiesta has been a meaningful tradition for Sarah since childhood, and she is dedicated to helping preserve and strengthen the Old Spanish Days community for future generations. Her involvement has fostered deep connections and a lasting appreciation for the cultural heritage of Santa Barbara. Outside of Fiesta, Sarah owns and operates TLC Child Care, a family childcare business she established in 2008, providing care for children ages three months to five years. She is supported by her husband, Thadeus, a retired veteran, and their four children: Tyler, Shelby, Alexis, and Samantha.
Elva Cosió
Elva Cosio was elected to the board in 2021 and is currently the Division Chief of Celebrations. Elva was born and raised in Santa Barbara and has been involved in Fiesta, as a dance mom, since 2007. Once that chapter of her life ended, she realized she missed being involved in Fiesta and joined the board. She has been participated in the committees for VIP/reserved seating at El Desfile Historico, Noches de Ronda, Fiesta Ranchera, Los Niños de las Flores, Fiesta Primavera, Fiesta Pequeña, Spirit of Fiesta Auditions and the Chair of the Fashion Sale. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and reading at the beach.
Sean Malis
Sean T. Malis joined Old Spanish Days in 2017. He is a Director and Division Chief of Marketplaces/Mercados. Sean’s responsibilities include serving as the Co-chair of the Mercado de la Guerra committee, member of the Governance and History and Archiving committees, and has active roles in Fiesta Pequeña and Horseman’s Rendezvous. Sean joined Old Spanish Days to serve his community and celebrate his family's history and traditions. Sean was born and raised in Santa Barbara, he served in the U.S. Army for 34 years, and he is currently serving as a junior high school science and social studies teacher. He is married with a blended family of five children and two dogs. He enjoys travel, camping, hiking, and volunteering for California State Parks.

Alan Acosta
Alan Acosta joined Old Spanish Days in 2024 and is currently serving as a director. He has helped in many committees such as Primavera, Recepcion del Presidente, and Mercado de la Guerra. He has attended fiestas since he was a little boy with his parents and has enjoyed every fiesta with his family and friends. His daughter has been dancing Flamenco for 8 years and his love for Fiesta has grown as he supports his favorite dancer. Alan has been working for a local community bank, Montecito Bank & Trust, as a Vice President Commercial Banking Officer, providing loans in our communities to support our local businesses and their growth. He has 2 daughters, Sophia and Ruby and is married to his lovely wife, Rosa. They have one dog named Luna, and they love to travel, watch sports, go to the beach and spend time with family and friends.
Boris Alves
Boris Alves joined the Old Spanish Days Board as an Associate Director in 2024. Boris is of Brazilian descent and a Santa Barbara local since 1996, and joined Old Spanish Days because it connects him to the Latino culture and celebrates our local community values. He has been engaged in many volunteering activities in prior Fiesta years, from decorating floats to assembling the stage for La Fiesta Pequeña. When he is not enjoying Fiesta, he is enjoying the Santa Barbara backcountry and Channel Islands with his wife and chocolate Labrador.
Jana Atherton
Jana Atherton joined the Board of Old Spanish Days in 2014. Her current and past positions as a Director of the Board include committee support for Spirit of Fiesta and Celebrations. For the past 10 plus years, she has chaired Parade Reserved Seating. As a native born and raised in Santa Barbara her family has enjoyed Fiesta for many years. She joined the Board of Old Spanish Days for the love of being a part of the Fiesta Community and history that has enriched the Santa Barbara culture for 100 plus years. Outside of Old Spanish Days Jana works for two family owned and ran businesses. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, exercising and long walks with her husband.

Stephanie Coghlan
Stephanie Gorsuch Coghlan was elected to the board in 2021 and has been a Director since 2023. Stephanie is an 8th generation descendant of the Dominguez and Arata founding families of Santa Barbara. She is a 40-year member of the Native Daughter’s of the Golden West, Reina del Mar Parlor #126. She had the great honor of portraying Saint Barbara at Fiesta 1993. She is a UCSB retiree of 20 years and is currently working as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman for Santa Barbara County with the Family Service Agency. She was Chair of the Volunteer Committee and has been involved in Noches de Ronda, Arts & Crafts Show, Mercados, VIP/Reserved Seating El Desfile Historico, and the Bienvenidos.
Chris Cyr
Chris Cyr has been a parade marshal for 12 years. He became an Associate of Old Spanish Days in 2023. He has the honor of leading the Marshals for Viva El Centenio in 2024. He looks forward to assisting all of the parade guests and entries for the 100th Fiesta Parade.
Angelique Davis
Angelique Springer Davis was elected to the board in 2014. She has served three terms as Division Chief of External Relations and Education and has served on or chaired all external relations committees, including Public Relations, Social Media, Brochure, Invitations, History, Website and others. She also led the Merchandise Committee for many years and established the organization’s online store. She has served on the Fiesta Pequeña and Spirit of Fiesta committees and previously chaired La Recepción del Presidente and has also worked on the Parade, Mercado del Norte, and Human Resources committees. In 2020, she served as Fiesta’s Primera Dama. In addition to chairing the Spirit of Fiesta Committee in 2026, she currently chairs Fiesta de los Perros, one of Fiesta’s newest traditions. In addition to Fiesta, Angelique volunteers with the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise and will serve as its president for the 2026–2027 term. She is also a docent at the historic Santa Barbara County Courthouse, where she leads tours. Angelique and her husband, Past Presidente 2020 Erik Davis, enjoy celebrating the wonderful traditions of Fiesta together, traveling and spending time with their adorable maltipoo, Joy.
Lucy Diaz
Lucy (Placencia) Diaz joined Old Spanish Days Board as an Associate Director in 2024 and became a director in 2026. Lucy was born and raised in Santa Barbara and now resides in Lompoc. Lucy joined OSD to be more connected with her roots and to give back to an organization that has been a big part of her memories of the place she calls home (Santa Barbara). Lucy is also a member of the Native Daughters, Reina Del Mar Parlor 126. In Lucy's spare time she loves to garden, host parties for friends and family and travel.
Michael Easbey
Michael Easbey joined the Old Spanish Days Board in 2024 and is honored to support an organization that celebrates and preserves Santa Barbara’s rich cultural heritage. A third-generation Santa Barbaran, Michael has attended Fiesta celebrations since childhood and has long appreciated the traditions, community spirit, and volunteerism that define Old Spanish Days. Michael joined the board as a way to give back to the community that shaped him and to help ensure that Fiesta continues to thrive for future generations. He brings a collaborative, service-oriented mindset to his work with the organization. Professionally, Michael is a senior living administrator who leads large teams and focuses on hospitality, operations, and community engagement. He is married and the proud father of four children. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, local history, community events, and spending time with his family.

Tere Jurado
Tere Jurado has been part of Old Spanish Days since 2023. Tere joined the organization because she fell in love with FIESTA since she arrived to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles in 1989.
She is proudly part of the Mercado De La Guerra committee. There she helps with the booking of bands and entertainment as well as collaborating on whatever is necessary to make Mercado de La Guerra a great success for the enjoyment of those attending this FIESTA staple.
Judith McCaffrey
Judith McCaffrey has served on the Old Spanish Days Board since 2020. Judith’s responsibilities include chairing Fiesta Pequeña and Friends of Fiesta. She is also actively involved in other OSD committees including La Primavera, El Presidente Party, Fiesta Ranchera, Finance Committee, and the holiday party.
Alejandro Navarro
Alejandro Navarro was the official photographer for Old Spanish Days 2024 Fiesta celebration "El Centenario" as a bronze sponsor. Alejandro is the official photographer of Old Spanish Days Fiesta 2025.
Thea Palencia
Thea Palencia is a third-generation Fiesta board member, having served on the board since January 2015 as an Associate and 2017 as a Director. Thea is Chair of Las Noches de Ronda, Tarde de Ronda, and Flor y Canto (a performance under the direction of James Garcia and founded by Erin Graffy de Garcia). She also currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee. Thea has had the honor of being Co-Chair of Las Noches de Ronda and Tardes de Ronda since 2015, in addition to being the Director of the OSD Californio Canto~Baile History and Arts Education Outreach Program. The pilot program was extremely successful in 2011 and 2012 and is currently on hiatus.
Thea has served as Chair of Primavera, Performer Coordinator for various venues, and on the Parade (Awards), Fiesta Pequeña, Fiesta Ranchera, Spirit Audition, Recruitment, Governance, Grants, and the Fiesta Fridays Concert Series Committees.
Marge Romero
Marge Romero has served on the board since 1991. Romero's contributions have included chairing Mercado Arts and Crafts, Spirit Luncheon and Los Artistas. Ms. Romero has also served on the following committees: Fiesta Pequeña, Fiesta Ranchera, El Recepción del Presidente, Spirit Auditions, and several administrative committees.
Nataly Sarabia
Nataly was elected as a board member in 2025 after being a mother to two niñas who have been involved with Los Niños de las Flores since 2019. Through their involvement, she began forming friendships with other board members and volunteering during Fiesta Week. During that time, she was approached by a fellow board member and asked if she would be interested in becoming more involved with Old Spanish Days. She was so excited to be part of such a wonderful organization that celebrates and shares our culture through food, music, and tradition. She was born and raised in Santa Barbara, and growing upshe would dress up during Fiesta Week and sell cascarones during the Historical Parade. Watching the parade and seeing the community come together was always so much fun and remains one of her favorite memories. She is thrilled for her first year as Chair of Los Niños de las Flores, and she is especially excited to see Los Niños de Las Flores spread Fiesta cheer as our Fiesta ambassadors.
John Stephens
John Stephens joined Old Spanish Days in 2021 and proudly serves as Director. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Fiesta was an important part of his childhood, making his return as an adult especially meaningful. He works as the Mausoleum and Office Manager at Old Mission Santa Barbara and shares his life with his husband, Christopher, who also serves on the Old Spanish Days board. Together, they have a daughter who also loves to participate in Fiesta every year. Outside of Fiesta, John enjoys traveling, art, gaming, and attending festivals and concerts.
Brandon Vallin
Brandon Vallin was elected to the board as an Associate in 2023. He assisted with the 2023 Spirit and Jr Spirit Auditions, La Primavera, La Recepcion del Presidente, DIGS!, and The Historical Parade. Specifically, setting up and taking down the announcer booths along Cabrillo Blvd. In 2024, Brandon will be back to assist with the Spirit and Jr Spirit Auditions, the Spirit Luncheon, La Primavera, La Recepcion del Presidente, DIGS!, The Historical Parade, and El Mercado De La Guerra! Brandon, an SB local, states that his love for Fiesta was realized at a young age as he recalls watching his father set up Casa De La Guerra in preparation for Fiesta for many years.
Jenna Verbryke
Jenna has lived in Santa Barbara since 2015 and joined Old Spanish Days in 2021 to be more involved in her community and meet new people. Another reason for joining was her uncle, past Presidente Scott Burns, whom she grew up watching participate in the organization. Jenna is the Committee Chair for the Horseman’s Rendezvous. She has also served on the La Pequeña and Los Niños Committees. Outside of her work as a graphic designer, Jenna enjoys spending time with her dog Lily, being outdoors, dancing, exploring, listening to audiobooks, and supporting live music with friends and family.
Donna Weidl
Donna Weidl joined the Old Spanish Days Board in 2021 and currently serves as a Director. A lifelong Santa Barbara local, Donna has cherished Fiesta since childhood and is deeply committed to preserving this beloved community tradition for future generations. She is passionate about the role Old Spanish Days plays in uniting the community, honoring local history and culture, and creating meaningful experiences for both residents and visitors. Donna currently chairs the Restricted Fund Committee and co‑chairs the Spirit Committee. She has contributed across the organization in many capacities, including working on and emceeing La Primavera, and serving on the La Fiesta Pequeña, El Presidente, and Parade committees. Her broad involvement has given her a deep appreciation for the volunteers, partnerships, and traditions that make Old Spanish Days such a treasured part of Santa Barbara. Outside of Old Spanish Days, Donna is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Larry, and their dog, Addie, as well as traveling, boating, and taking advantage of Santa Barbara’s beautiful beaches and vibrant community life.

Yaneth Beltran
Yaneth joined Old Spanish Days in 2025 and currently serves as an Associate Member. Before officially joining, she had the pleasure of assisting with the Fiesta Parade, which gave her a firsthand look at the dedication and passion that make this event so special. Born and raised in Santa Barbara,Yaneth has deep roots in this community and a lifelong appreciation for the cultural history and traditions celebrated by Old Spanish Days. She joined OSD as a way to give back to her hometown and help preserve Fiesta for future generations. Yaneth has a career in business and is actively involved with Fiesta Pequeña and the Historical Parade Committee. In her free time, she enjoys slowing down to appreciate life’s simple pleasures—relaxing at home with a cup of coffee, going for walks around Santa Barbara, and spending quality time with family and friends. Being part of OSD allows her to connect with the community she loves and contribute to an organization that celebrates the spirit and heritage of our city.

Malisa Harrison
Malisa Harrison has been with the board of Old Spanish Days since 2014. She has served on many different committees and has enjoyed all of them. She is also on the board for Aeromedicos, a non-profit that provides medical and dental clinics in remote areas of Mexico. Malisa has been a resident of Santa Barbara since 1974, she has three grown children, she enjoys traveling, and she loves to dance.
Julie Luera
Julie (Reyes) Luera joined Old Spanish Days in 2023 as a volunteer for the Benevides’s and the Parade. She is now an associate as of 2025 on the Volunteer Committee helping with the Mercados, Arts & Crafts as well as La Misa, and Fiesta Requena reception. Julie was born in Santa Barbara until her family moved up north when she was 14. Julie joined Old Spanish Days because she has loved going to the parade and the Plaza’s since she was a little girl.
Leslie Lund
Leslie Lund is a new associate with Old Spanish Days joining in 2025. Leslie has facilitated and assisted with El Desfile de los Niños, the Children’s parade, for over a decade. Lesie retired from the City of Santa Barbara’s Parks and Recreation department after 26 years. She is a UCSB alumni, living in Santa Barbara since 1978. She has many nieces and nephews and is the proud owner of a 20-year-old Basenji and Chihuahua mix named Emma. Leslie loves golf and travel, visiting 87 countries so far.

Michiel Roach
Michiel Roach joined the Old Spanish Days Board in 2025. Michiel supports multiple celebration planning committees and is involved in day-of volunteering at many events. Michiel is a Santa Barbara transplant who was introduced to Fiesta through his wife, an SB native and local small business owner. For years Michiel was a Flamenco dance-Dad-sherpa during the week of Fiesta carrying dresses and make-up kits from one location to another throughout the town. Michiel has a deep appreciation for California history and truly enjoys the traditions and culture that exists in Santa Barbara that Old Spanish Days celebrates. Michiel is an aerospace design engineer. He is the father of a blended family: two daughters, a stepdaughter, and a stepson. In his free time he enjoys everything Santa Barbara has to offer. He volunteers with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and he can often be found kayaking in the harbor, Wet-Wednesday sailing, wine tasting, and walking along the beach with his wife and his three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Maria Cabrera
Maria Cabrera served as 2022 La Presidente for Old Spanish Days, Inc. She has served on the OSD board since 2006. Maria's responsibilities on the Executive board have included Treasurer, 1st VP and Division Chief of Dance & Entertainment. She has chaired Noches de Ronda, Spirits of Fiesta Audition, Fiesta Pequeña, Fiesta Pequeña Reception, Mission Liaison, La Misa y La Misa Reception, Parade Announcers, Archiving, Fiesta Costume Sale, flowers for El Desfile Historico, and various Fiesta Administrative Committees.
Barbara Carroll
Barbara Carroll served as the 2019 La Presidenta for Old Spanish Days, Inc. She has served on the OSD board since 2006, and as a volunteer since 1986. Barbara’s responsibilities on the board have included El Primer and El Segundo Vice Presidentes, El Teserero, El Secretario, and Vice Presidente of External Relations and Education. She has chaired Fiesta Pequeña, La Primavera, Parade Announcers, Merchandise, HR, Governance, Bylaws and Nominations Committees, and several others. Over the years she has also been actively involved in various OSD committees including Spirit of Fiesta Audition, Dignatarios, Horseman's Rendezvous, La Recepcion del Presidente, the Costume Sale, and various Fiesta administrative committees.

Erik Davis
Erik Hugh Davis served as El Presidente of Old Spanish Days in 2020 under the theme “¡Vamos a Bailar!” and currently serves as a Past Presidente Director. Since joining the board in 2010, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Primer and Segundo Vice Presidente, Division Chief of External Relations and Education, Public Relations Chair, and member of both the Media Outreach and History Committees. During the unprecedented challenges of 2020, Erik is widely credited with helping guide Fiesta forward and preserving the celebration during a pivotal moment in its history. Erik and his wife, fellow board member Angelique Davis, joined the organization out of a deep love for Fiesta and a shared dedication to Santa Barbara’s cultural traditions. A longtime community media leader, Erik was also honored as King of the Summer Solstice Celebration and currently serves as Executive Director of TV Santa Barbara. During Fiesta season, Erik and Angelique are known as one of the best-dressed couples in town. He also enjoys community events, travel, and life with his Maltipoo, Joy. ¡Viva la Fiesta!

Josiah Jenkins
Josiah Jenkins served as El Presidente of Old Spanish Days in 2013 and currently serves as a Past Presidente Director. Since joining the board in the Rodeo committee in 1976, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Primer and Segundo Vice Presidente (2011 and 2012), secretary and treasurer (2008-2010), and has been the Old Spanish Days Rodeo secretary, treasurer, and committee chair since 1991. Josiah is a 5th generation Californian, born and raised in Santa Barbara, a graduate of Santa Barbara High. Josiah work retail with Jedlicka's, a western wear and tack store started in 1932. Josiah owns horses. His activities include freight trains, grading and maintaining roads, performing prescribed burns, organizing various trail rides, and belonging to several riding organizations.

Fritz Olenberger
Fritz Olenberger was 2025 El Presidente for Old Spanish Days and continues as a Past President Director. Fritz has served on the board since 2012 and previously was the official photographer for the organization. He has chaired the Photography committee and has served on the Fiesta Pequeña committee, the Press and Public Relations committee, the Social Media Committee, and the HR committee. Fritz and his wife Gretchen moved from the East Coast to Santa Barbara in 1994. He retired from Raytheon (now RTX) in 2009, where he served as Director of Engineering. Fritz and Gretchen have three adult children and six grandchildren, all of who rode in the 2025 Historical Parade. He is a well-known volunteer photographer for many events and nonprofits around Santa Barbara, and his photography has been featured on the cover of many periodicals.
