Michiel Roach joined the Old Spanish Days Board in 2025. Michiel supports mutliple celebration planning committes and is involved in day-of volunteering at many event. Michiel is a Santa Barbara transplant who was introduced to Fiesta through his wife, an SB native and local small business owner. For years Michiel was a Flamenco dance-Dad-sherpa during the week of Fiesta carrying dresses and make-up kits from one location to another throughout the town. Michiel has a deep appreciation for California history and truly enjoys the traditions and culture that exists in Santa Barbara that Old Spanish Days celebrates. Michiel is an aerospace design engineer. He is the father of a blended family: two daughters, a stepdaughter, and a stepson. In his free time he enjoys everything Santa Barbara has to offer. He voluntters with the Santa Barbara International Fil Festival and he can often be found kayaking in the harbor, Wet-Wednesday sailing, wine tasting, and walking along the beach with his wife and his three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
